29 APPRENTICES: L.I.T. GROUP HOLDS OWN RECORD

NO CORONA-INDUCED LACK OF YOUNG TALENT AT THE COMPANY FROM BRAKE.

With 29 newly hired junior staff, the L.I.T. Group defies the industry-wide negative trend of falling trainee numbers and also holds the internal record set last year. 17 prospective salespeople for forwarding and logistics services, six specialists for warehouse logistics, three professional drivers, one clerk for office management, one IT specialist for application development and one for system integration are starting their training at the logistics specialist today. To protect everyone’s health, L.I.T. took special precautions in the Corona year.

INTRODUCTORY EVENT THIS YEAR DIRECTLY AT THE TRAINING LOCATIONS

»We were able to keep the number of young professionals at the record level of the previous year. This confirms our high quality as a training company and makes us very proud«, says Astrid Jonat, training manager at L.I.T. AG. Thanks to early selection interviews and the signing of contracts, this year’s recruiting for the logistics company was almost complete before the peak of the pandemic began in Germany. It is already clear that L.I.T. will continue to offer apprenticeships to the same extent as before, regardless of the Corona-related cancellations of school internships and training exchanges in 2021.

Due to the current contact restrictions, L.I.T. forwent the usual greeting at the headquarters in Brake and gives the trainees their introduction directly at the locations. In the first one or two days, the young professionals get to know each other, the company, the different business areas and their processes and visit the individual departments. In addition, there is an initial training course on the use of IT systems, a seminar on the subject of quality management and a telephone training – of course, all taking into account the distance rules.

If the situation allows, another training week is planned for all apprentices from twelve locations and all six training occupations at the headquarters in Brake in spring 2021. During this workshop, the trainees can network and will be trained in presentation techniques, internal and external communication, conflict management, cost and performance accounting as well as work and time management. At the end of the week, the trainees prove their acquired knowledge in a group presentation in front of the training management and the company board.

As every year, trainees in their second year of training take over a »godparenthood« for their new colleagues. »A personal contact who was in the same situation not so long ago makes it much easier for young people to start their professional life,« says Jonat. The trainees always receive close support from the training department and the training officers, with whom they also hold regular feedback discussions. In the case of exceptionally good performance, not only an internship at one of the L.I.T. locations abroad is possible, the subsequent takeover in the company is also as good as guaranteed. Numerous sports activities and events such as joint barbecues or running events encourage the team spirit among employees. For this exemplary commitment in the training of young talent, the IHK Oldenburg awarded the L.I.T. Group after an extensive examination process with the quality label »TOP training company«.
