Die L.I.T. Lager & Logistik GmbH erweitert ihre Logistikfläche im Güter-verkehrszentrum Bremen auf über 220.000 Quadratmeter.

The L.I.T. Group is continuing its expansion course and adding a state-of-the-art, sustainable logistics property to its presence in the Bremen freight village (GVZ). The new hall, now the fifth, extends over 20,000 square metres and will be used in particular for contract logistics and value-added services. To this end, it is equipped with modern AutoStore systems that automatically store and pick items. The property has also been certified with Gold status by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB), making it an ideal fit for the Group’s sustainable growth strategy. This expansion increases the total logistics space of L.I.T. Lager & Logistik GmbH in Bremen to over 220,000 square metres.

‘With the new logistics property, we can provide our customers with even more targeted support, particularly in the areas of spare parts logistics and e-commerce,’ explains Rico von Hollen, Head of Business Development at L.I.T. Lager & Logistik GmbH. From consulting and transport to customs clearance, L.I.T. offers comprehensive and customised logistics solutions and handles the entire supply chain management for its customers. The Group uses the new facility primarily for contract logistics and extensive value-added services. The logistics space is let by LIP INVEST GmbH, a leading investment house for logistics property.

The expansion is an important investment in the future: as a flagship property for testing and conceptual automation in intralogistics, the new space will be equipped with state-of-the-art technologies such as AutoStore systems and automated guided vehicles (AGVs). ‘We are using the property as a testing ground for innovative automation technologies. This enables us to develop customised and future-proof solutions that benefit our customers,’ says von Hollen.

With the location in the Bremen freight village, the L.I.T. Group is consciously focussing on regionality, short distances and close cooperation with customers, employees and partners on site. Thanks to the favourable connections to all modes of transport – road, rail, air and water – the new property is ideal for multimodal transport. The immediate proximity to a large transshipment station and the direct connection to the North Sea via the twin ports in Bremerhaven and Bremen, combined with the proximity to the international ports in Hamburg and Wilhelmshaven, ensure that international transport chains run smoothly. ‘With the service portfolio of the entire L.I.T. Group, our customers can gain real competitive advantages in their respective industries,’ says Thimo Schulz.

With the new property, L.I.T. is emphasising its long-term strategy of positioning itself as a leading provider of sustainable and innovative logistics solutions.

In addition, L.I.T. is taking a further step towards environmentally friendly logistics with the fossil-free heating of the new office and social areas, thereby emphasising its commitment to sustainable business practices. Thimo Schulz, Managing Director of L.I.T. Lager & Logistik GmbH, says: ‘The new property is not only a gain for our logistics capacities, but also a clear commitment to our responsibility towards the environment. The DGNB Gold status confirms that we are setting a sustainable milestone here.’
